Modbus via Ethercat (Beckhoff)

Yes the optidrive should stay in my setup - at least for the next months. The switch to ethercat, the new servos aso was hard enough to afford. As you mentioned before usb to rs485 is an option, I will go that way until I will be able to spend the next bucks for an ethercat VFD.

I would really like to, but I have to wait a little bit with the next invest in my hobby.

I think once you get that going, you will find it works so well, you will never go to an ethercat VFD.
Does Optidrive have a separate ethercat interface module for your VFD? A number of manufacturers do.

Thx for your help! I hope that the usb-rs485 solution will work as well as ethercat would do.
I had a closer look on the manual of the Optidrive and unfortunately they don`t offer an ethercat interface for the E3 Series. It has multiple protocols on board but not ethercat. Can open is available and Beckhoff offers a Can open module - but as an absolute newbie it will be impossible to implement it I guess.
