The attached file is not the same as the one used on that screenshot.
You really have to pay attention as to what file you are editing.
Start the attached file, it will not have that error, but might have others.

tommylight, Many thanks! The file that I edited, did not save to HD. I specially re-booted, so I have saved in the incorrect folder. This 2nd try looks good, well, a different error "analogout ~~. See attached file.

many thanks

Edit: I plan to # to this line as well.

Well that brings us to square one, so :
-no field power to Mesa 7i77
-wrong DB25 connector to Mesa 7i77
-wrong bitfile for this setup
-bad DB25 cable
-dead 7i77
What does readhmid report?

tommylight, Many, many thanks! I have not found the "readhmid report", I am not shore where to look, attached are the .ini & .hal files. I will try tomorrow again. If there is a certain place to look, please point in the best direction, I will try again. I have the original 7i77 card, that was smoked, when overpowered if we need to try something. I do not see any damage to the DB25 cable & I cannot remember where or how it was chosen, as if there is a way to tell if true DB25 cable.
Many thanks for the help.

Edit: I see this line has been # out in the .hal file. Lines 15 & 27 below the:
#*******************
# AXIS X#*******************

line 15: #net x-vel-cmd => pid.x.command-deriv

Line 27 # enable _all_ sserial pwmgens

I did not see this until just now. Many thanks

Many thanks, tommylight!
This is a pic of the results from "mesaflash --device 5i25 --readhmid" at terminal screen. I believe this is correct.

Edit: It appears there was more info, see 2nd pic. Edit: add complete file

This is a copy & paste of the 5i25 readhmid report.

Edit: I have rechecked the voltage to TB-1 & TB-2 & they are correct.
I have tried this & variations of this as the ip address (I need proper ip address or how to find it) of 7i77 card:
"mesaflash --device 7i77 10_10_.1 --readhmid" with the hope that the "readhmid report" settings could be available.

Edit:Plugged in the old 7i77 card, the error was nearly identical. The DB25 cable question; my cable says IEEE-1284 Compliant, I will be looking at this issue to understand what's different. I believe the cable I have will work, all pins straight through, but have seen places that will put almost any plug on each end with your request for pin out/ pin in.

Edit:If there is a real possibility that I have smoked the 7i77 card, is there a way to test??

Many thanks!

LinuxCNC is not finding the 7i77. I keep saying that.

The 5i25 is working. I don't think that the 7i77 is.

Do you see _any_ HAL pins with 7i77 in them? There were none last time you posted a pin list.

Rather than screenshots of the error message, press the "select all" button at the bottom, then copy and paste it here, or to a text file. There is important information off the top and bottom of the screen.

What we _can_ see is that there are no encoders on P2 either. What does your "loadrt hostmtot2" line in the HAL say?

andypugh, Many thanks!! These attached files show the pin out saved as .txt file. I also included the error file with a wire going from AMC SW-1 connector; pin 11 GND going to 7I77 CARD TB-3 connector 3 GND. When the encoders were counting, this was the wiring diagram (in the 1st post) at that time. Many thanks!

Edit: This 3rd attachment is error w/o GND wire going to TB-3; everything else is the same. If you compare this part of the file that has GND to TB-3 this has encoder info:Starting LinuxCNC...

It appears to me that w/o having GND (from encode/ TB-3) to AMC SW-1 pin 11 (GND) shows encoder. My thinking was that the encoders needed their own GND wire. In addition, when the only thing that worked was the DRO had the GND wire to TB-3.

The encoders working doesn't tell us anything, as they are passively connected directly to the 5i25.
We are not seeing any sign of the 7i77 onboard processor working.

Attach your HAL and INI files.
