Thanks to scotta EC500 for adding encoding and QEI functionality that's great.

DIY CNC servo motors without coded feedback are a nightmare to tune

I can't buy MESA
NVEM & EC500 are readily available
The old one was about $60

Could you tell me if it would be possible to use the firmware that is being used in the EC500 on the STM32F407VET6 board with the LAM8720A, if so, would I have to make any changes?

Hi eng, that is the basis of the EC500 firmware. One catch with the EC500 was the shared clock signal between the PHY and the MCU. I only figured that out when I had the board physically in my hands. If the board you are considering is different then the clock settings would need to be changed accordingly.

I noticed exactly this, because I saw in your video that the ec500 had only a single crystal, I asked this question because from what I'm seeing, the plates with the stm32f407vet6 use as a clock, an 8mhz crystal, that was my biggest doubt and for this reason I asked this question.

Some progress to share and getting closer. Below is a snip of a DDS synthsised 450 kHz step train on two pins on different ports generated by the DMAstepgen module and pushed to the two GPIO ports at 1Mhz via DMA using 1 single timer :-)

Still to do is double buffer and connect the stepgens to LinuxCNC command and feedback.

I'm finding it hard to order one of these. The first order never shipped so I got a refund. So I asked another seller. He said the manufacturer has pulled the current stock due to something been wrong with that batch. maybe they don't want people messing with them. ?

Maybe this is why: www.ebay.com/itm/154044311817
Price: 3-axis US $359.14
6-axis US $553.28

STM32's are getting hard to come by, and they are charging extra for each axis :)

No one is going to buy them at that price. It's ridiculous. That 3 axis in AliExpress are 75 euro plus 20 for shipping. They have all been pulled now. Looks like they will still sell the 6 axis. They may be recalling them to lock the availability to the axis ?

Just got confirmation from the manufacturer of the board. they are changing the design and locking the outputs. I take it that's the axis.

They are competing with Mesa boards. I think they are shooting themselves in the foot now. Bad move.
