i use toggle for all the buttons. all work except estop.yes, i have both...tab and
side panel. but side panel doesn't show. didn't know there was a difference between
GLADEVCP and GLADE. i took some stuff out of my ui file to see if one of em might
be the problem.

Your file shows up as 1x1 panel... That's problem i think.
You may try runnint 'gladevcp ui-file' to check how it looks like.
To fix 1x1 issue go to 'Panel', select third tab ('General'?) and set size requests to 100/100 (for example)

i'm trying to get a home all button with glade side panel. i have other buttons
but they're connected to actions, so i'm guessing they're not the same.
i have leds(6) and a hal_vbar(1) which work great. when i try to connect
the Home_all button, in my postgui.hal file i get it doesn't exist. in the ui
file i use the name under the common tab. then in my postgui i use
gladevcp.Home_all. i've tried Glade.Home_all and same effect. if i take the
connection out of the postgui, everything works as should (except estop).
in psha examples(Thanks), there are no samples of links that do not have
a emc action. where do i get the name(pin) to use in postgui ?

Thanks
kenneth

edit

Look into example - homing is implemented using gladevcp Actions, not HAL pins.
So there is nothing in HAL space that represents gladevcp Home action.
Maybe you'll catch me at #emc again? :)

the emc toggleaction estop and reload don't do anything. except the estop turns power off
and reload does nothing. and in the below, says 'button' doesn't exist but no error with the 'led'.
this "IS" where i link the glade pin/signals ? if not, say so and i'll continue reading. :)

postgui.hal
net glade_estop_led gladevcp.Estop_led gladevcp.Estop_button

Again and again you are trying to connect HAL pin to gladevcp action...
Regarding reload - probably it's a bug. I'll take a look in the evening

in your example you have the below. maybe i misunderstood this.
i was trying to do that.

panel.hal
net button-state gladevcp.hal_togglebutton1 => gladevcp.hal_led1

That was general purpose gladevcp togglebutton with output hal pin.
If you want estop you should take togglebutton/toggletoolbutton/etc and connect it to ESTOP ToggleAction using glade.
That's two different things
