OK, so you are wanting to add extra controls to the right of the screen.
There are two ways to add extra controls to the Axis user interface, the slightly old-fashioned PvVCP and the new-fangled GladeVCP.
If you look at the bottom of that Wiki link you pasted you will find links to a set of files. One version using GladeVCP and one using PyVCP.

You can get close to that config by adding the XML file from that page: (custom_pyvcp.xml) to the configuration folder for your machine, then add:
PYVCP = custom_pyvcp.xml in the [DISPLAY] section of the INI file.

Note that it won't actually _do_ anything, because all the buttons and controls need to be connected to functions and hardware in HAL, and the configuration in the Wiki page uses Mesa interface cards which I don't think you have.

So, once you have the extra buttons displayed, you can look in Machine->show hal config to see all the pin names associated with the new buttons, and edit the postgui.hal file to make the required connections.
