It should be ok, I'll have to download the LiveCD again (gave away last copy) and follow along to see what that is.

I'm talking about clicking on the deb package. And it won't let me proceed any further.
It occurred to me last night that I can probably rename the emc2 directory and that may hide it from the package manager.

It has been suggested to move your computer near the network and get the FULL updates, not just EMC...
John
How does one get the FULL updates?
I thought that we were NOT supposed to update Ubuntu...

So, now I actually have 2.4.3 up an running, but haven't gotten any motion yet.
Would like to link in the nice "ptest.hal" file you wrote, but haven't found the magic button yet. I can get it running separately, but would like to list it in the .ini file and have it open automatically when i start emc.
Any thoughts on what I need to change to make that happen?
Thanks,
Tom

You can add the pyvcp part to your .xml file and add the hal stuff to your postgui hal file and it will come up with axis in the side pane.

So you still don't have 2.4.6?

Sorry, a typo. I DO have 2.4.6 up and running.
But I have a really bad taste in my mouth from all the problems I've been having with this particular computer. Think I'm going to order that D510MO motherboard today. Also have to order a new hard drive, as I don't have any spare SATA drives sitting around. Is the D510MO still the recommended board?
Thanks
Tom
