I want to just pierce through the centre of some holes for later drilling to the correct size without a lead in or out.
What would be the correct procedure for this. Also would there be a problem with arc being lost.
I would be using sheetcam loaded with the dxf pattern of the holes

You can change a couple of parameters if you use the spotting tool

I use sheetcam for this and have a tool called centerpunch. I move the holes to another layer and run the centerpunch operation on that layer only.

Rod can you share your centre-punch sheet cam tool.
Do you have any problems with arc lost when piercing right though then moving to the next hole. I would like to cut through

If you want to pierce right through then you could use the pierce only mode
I have seen this pierce only but thought it might not pierce in the circle centre

Edit: From memory if you use the PP from the forum the centre punch tool only requires the correct name, PlasmaC handles all the other parameters, they can be anything.

Clive, I've adopted Phill's postprocessor but I have not done any spotting with it yet. I'm trying to avoid the work and I can cut 10mm holes for nutserts and M6 clearance holes OK. My post is here on the forum somewhere but I think you are better off using Phill's In fact I asked Les Newell to grab it from the forum here so it could be included in Sheetcam earlier in the week.
So you just need to create a tool as per the name Phill mentioned and do a drilling operation using it. Just make sure the hole diameters in the process picks up your holes.
Mine predated Phill's spotting method so mine was a bit cruder. I just turned the torch on and turned it off when I got an ArcOK.

No, it will be where the original pierce is.
Edit: From memory if you use the PP from the forum the centre punch tool only requires the correct name, PlasmaC handles all the other parameters, they can be anything.
So if I made the circles 1mm or 0.5mm it should pierce near enough centre.
I think I am using the PP from the forum. I use the tools that I set up in PlasmaC with the cut params that I have found to work with testing. But not sure where the centre punch tool is (requires the correct name !!)
Sorry to be APITA
