If the work around for the proprietary control cards are the Mesa product line, what is the work around for power supply or more specifically power supply amplifier. I can appreciate it has to mate up with the specific drives. I have also seen complete televisions laid out (this was a vo-tech demonstration some years ago) so no PSB and it worked. I see that there is cooling and other requirements that may extend life of the components, and see a lot of components, what type of things don't I have an appreciation for?

Is your meter on an AC range?
Replied by andypugh on topic retrofit Bridgeport Prototrak Plus
It needs time to charge up, but only goes 0.5 v on 0 to 26; and only 1.5 v 0 to 52. .

Andy, I am truly grateful for your help. The meter reads 2.5 v on 0 to 26; and 5.5 v 0 to 52, and steady.

What is the voltage input to the transformer?
Are you sure you have the settings right and reading the that old analog meter correctly?

With the"polarity"(knob to the left) setting in AC, and the scale setting (knob to right) set to 600v, read scale that is red (kind of in the middle, AC on each end) when reading input on pins 0, & 115; the needle shows 110 volts, about 1/6 of scale. If I have not read this correctly please speak up.
many thanks!

Power supply has arrived, as per user manual, "MINVOLTS" as well as "MAXVOLTS" as well as "MAXAMPS" are parameters that need to be set prior to the testing of the system. Can someone help with the setup?

I would have the min volts at 0, max volts at 5 and current at 10mA to start with. If the output voltage is less than 5V at that current then try increasing the current. I would probably start to get a bit concerned above 0,1A, and start feeling for hot components.

Andy, to review how this is set up, to insure its correct. The power supply when set to 5 voltage at 0.1 current (when + and - are connected together the cc light or the cv will be lite), with (5 v) power supply on, with 110 volt power supply on and with the 5 volt going to the pins from power amplifier (that are going to the 7i77 card) with linuxcnc up running. The front of the 5 v p/s has 5.0 v and green cv light on, the current says nothing, should I increase this with the fine setting.

No! Do _not_ connect the 110V.
This test is to check the condition of the Low Voltage DC circuits.

Andy, what I described is what happen, the meter on 5 v p/s was as stated. I did not see any issues, but no motion in drives, the drives when rotated by hand show as motion on the screen. What should I be looking for?
many thanks
