The version from the Software Installer is 2.0.5.0 and the latest is 3.3.4.
Hmmm....

Has anyone encountered a problem uninstalling the old version and downloading/installing the newer version?

I just figured out how to run a 'RUN' program in Linux. ;)

New version installed. Let's hope I can get it to work.

Thanx~!

Oh.my.gosh~!!

My experience with QCAD has been an interesting one thus far. It took me few tries but yes, I finally managed to draw the triangle.
I exported it with the CAM feature and when I loaded it into the LinuxCNC machine, the display was reading roughly Y=375 X=302.
Why would this me in metric, I wondered.

So, just to see if it would allow both metric and standard in the same program, I copied the data of the triangle made in Qcad, and pasted it into the the existing cribbage board file.

I noticed a tiny triangle next to the outline...as it turns, out the Qcad triangle is NOT 375mm by 302mm...Those are INCHES~!!

That is a rather confusing development. I double checked the dimensions on the screen, and they are all correct. When I used the CAM Export function in Qcad, I left them at default.
Looks like I'm back to the old drawing board...

You can configure some defaults in Qcad... didn't know they had a CAM feature. It won't make any difference if it is inches or mm, your preamble sets what the machine does... you do use a preamble right?

The latest version has a CAM feature that will export your drawing...however, if you have the freeware version, it will only work for the first 15 minutes the program is open. Meaning that if you need to export your design after that, yo will need to SAVE the drawing, then close Qcad, re-open it, load the image and then export it. Kinda bothersome, but my thought was it isn't a big deal if the export works well, and prevents me from hand-coding!

Yup! I have a preamble, but that didn't help.
When I actually LOOKED at the nc code that Qcam kicked out, it was giving the numbers HUGE...I had the triangle set for approx 14inches along the Y axis, and it came out over 370 inches!

Here is what Qcad gave me =
N10 G00 Z100
N20 X7.144 Y37.306
N30 Z2 F200
N40 G01 Z-2
N50 Y356.394
N60 G02 X49.212 Y377.825 I27.221 J-1.429
N70 G01 X292.1 Y238.125
N80 G02 X292.1 Y154.783 I-41.671 J-41.671
N90 G01 X49.083 Y14.288
N100 G02 X7.144 Y37.306 I-14.325 J23.616
N110 G00 Z2
N120 Z100
N130 M30
Last edit: 23 Oct 2013 03:40 by Sterling. Reason: Insert Qcad code

Here is a screen shot = You can see the Y axis measures approx 14" long...

Put a G21 at the beginning and I reckon it will come out right.

370mm = 14.5" Allowing for tool diameter the numbers look plausible.
