Retrofit of Precix 5x10 CNC

Thanks for the info, I will try to find an even lower current supply, and of course I will make sure the polarity is correct.

Once I do get a power supply and test it, since W1 is in it's default position, I should just connect the positive to TB2 pin 1 and ground to TB2 pin 8. Why is there 4 different vfield power pins? Do they power different input and output pins? Just curious.

Thanks!

There are 4 field I/O pins since maximum current can be in the 5A region
For normal low power loads you can just use 1 and 8

So I had to move the CNC and my shop into a basement to get closer to 3 phase power for the CNC's Spingle/Vacuum.
Took some time, but I got it installed and back to where I was before the move. Cool thing is that I have internet access, so I can hopefully respond faster!

I am re-running PNCCONF now that I have my X-Y-Z Axis connected (encoder and driver). I got en error when I first tried to do axis testing about "kernel-version" but got that resolved, however I can't seem to get any movement from my axis. I checked voltage on 7i77 and have 5v (4.6v) on pin 1/2 so it should be enabling my driver, however I am not getting any voltage on pin 3 and 4 while jogging. Should I? Power supply is putting out it's 51V to the drivers, but nothing from drivers to motor. I got a power supply powering the field I/O which is about 12V. (Not using a computer power supply, of course)

I get a little confused on the 7i77x2 firmware, should I choose 6 encoders and 6 PWM generators? in PNCconf?

Do you I think I failed on the 7i92 firmware flashing?

Thanks for any input!

If any I/O on the 7I77 works the firmware is OK

Pins 1/2 on TB5 should be connected when enabled or open when disabled
(they do no output a voltage)

Are the drives enabled? (motors on velocity mode drives will resist applied torque and likely drift slowly)

posting your current hal and ini files will help debugging

I guess I don't know if any of the I/O is working. I know if I don't have the 7i92 powered up LinuxCNC will report an error, so must be connecting at some level.

Oh, ok, I misunderstood on the pins 1/2 I will check for connectivity.

No, I don't think so, they do not resist, not like when I worked with steppers and applied power to them. I don't think there is any power coming from power supply to motors, so they must not be enabled properly. I will double check wiring.

I will post current HAL and INI files, thanks again PCW! I appreciate it.

Great news! I flashed the 7i92 and we are in business. I must have not did that, or didn't have network connected properly.
So X and Y are moving and I can look into changing the setting to get those moving properly.
Man, getting that motor to move was very exciting... been a long road to get that far. Probably take you guys a few minutes, but took me a few months... haha...

So I am moving on to my other inputs...
Before I start connecting them, I just want to make sure I have this correct.
For example I have an Estop on the controller box itself.
It's normally closed.
So I would run the field power supply (12V) to one leg of the Estop and the other leg would go to my input pin (0) on the 7i92. The 7i92 would read the voltage as ok, when I hit the e-stop the circuit would open and pin (0) would not get any voltage and the system should stop. Sound right or am I way off? :)

Thanks guys!!!
