Those are the optimal values, so do not change them if the machine is running properly and the velocity is OK.

I did test 2000 for the step space and length, and it works without a hitch, did not test lower as i never needed it.
Pretty sure those drives will work with way lower values.

Is there a way to "calibrate" limit switches? So that machine will know exactly where they are. And same for homes.
How can I get machine back to work when I run into limit switch? Right now I cut power and turn motor by hand away from limit switch.

The positions are set in the INI file, you just need to adjust the soft limits in the INI to be fractionally inside the hard limits (switches)Is there a way to "calibrate" limit switches? So that machine will know exactly where they are. And same for homes.
The actual home position rarely matters, but if you want machine zero to be in a particular place then tweak the HOME_OFFSET in the INI.

If the machine has separate max and min limit switches then the system will allow jogging away from the switch. If the limit switches are shares. or share an IP pin then the system doesn't know what the safe direction is.
You can try "override limits" and jogging off, but what you are doing is sometimes necessary.
With properly set up soft limits you should never trip the physical limits.
