tommylight, do you know if a internet connection is required to install? I tried this morning with a USB adapter micro SD card and it said it failed to read the CD drive? I had no internet this morning as the dish was covered with snow...

To install Linux Mint it does not, just do not choose to update while installing or to install additional codex.
Most of the other files can be downloaded and transferred, but i am sure there are some other files downloaded during install that are not on the list.

Hello,

Thanks for the 5* post :D

I installed mint 20 following this post steps and it's all working (linuxcnc).

The only thing i can't do is setting a higher resolution for my monitor on RT kernel how can i add more resolutions?

In general, if something is not working on Linux Mint i blame the hardware ! :)
Can you try to boot with the generic kernel and check if that works?
I am aware that RTAI kernel caused low resolution on some PC's but it was at least 1024x768, never had issues with RT-Preempt on any PC, and i have 3 of them and 3 laptops on this desk only, more in the shop.
