Any chance you could do an idiots guide to upgrading as well?

It was the upgrading to the latest version of QtPlasmaC.
Step 5 i think of Snowgoer54's id10t's guide.

Yep, for a package install, Section 4, Steps 17 and 18 should get you up to date, which I see from the post in the other section that you've already figured out

Yep, for a package install, Section 4, Steps 17 and 18 should get you up to date, which I see from the post in the other section that you've already figured out

I followed the guide... almost. Turns out that 19.4 is now an older version -- I missed the memo, or else didn't figure the version difference should matter since this guide was so recently published -- and downloaded the current MX version 21. RT kernel install and Mesaflash build / install went perfectly fine. However, the linuxcnc install fails as follows.
So, do I need to start over with 19.4 because of python version incompatibility? Wouldn't mind staying with 21 if I could...
If it must be 19.4, you might consider updating the guide so that it uses sourceforge.net/projects/mx-linux/files/...9.4_x64.iso/download for the download link. The link in the guide takes you to current release which is now 21.
MX 21 ships with Python 3.9.2.
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
linuxcnc-uspace : Depends: python3 (< 3.8) but 3.9.2-3 is to be installed
Depends: libboost-python1.67.0 but it is not installable
Depends: libpython3.7 (>= 3.7.0) but it is not installable
Depends: libreadline5 (>= 5.2) but it is not installable

Thank you for the heads up that the link changed, I was unaware. I will fix that.
I have it on my "to-do" list to make a MX21 install guide. I have been holding off because there are no package installs being built automatically for this yet. So currently for this to work, you have to install the correct dependencies and you have to build from source (Run In Place Install). All that said, I figure most people who are new to LinuxCNC won't want to go that route as you dont get the menu items, etc. It's more geared toward development work.
Perhaps I could just make the guide with that disclaimer...

Looks like MX Linux 21 was just released about a month ago.
I also noted after posting previously that MX 21 is based on Bullseye. So I installed 19.4 instead and things are going much better now.
I can wait; if this works well, I'm happy. I'm still taking first steps with LCNC and not sure I want to try the build from source option just yet. Probably at some point in the future.
Regarding the MX experience overall -- Xfce 4.16 is sooooo much nicer than the outdated version that ships with the official ISO.

you would need to compile from source to use MX21. I did that with bullseye without any dramas

Following the manual. word by word - line by line.
Section 4: 19:
enter the following case sensitive command:
sudo apt install linux-image-rt-amd64
My client is a 32bit... is there an linux-image-rt-blabla32 ?
or is the guide only for 64bit machines (I know it mentioned 64in the start - but i would give it a shot enyway)
