Ok, the 16GB board was only released at the beginning of the year, maybe you were thinking of the 8GB boards rod. So I don't think it's a Linuxcnc issue but a kernel issue.
What I would suggest you do is load up an sd card with an Raspberry Pi image, boot it up and relay the output of
I'm thinking it may require a 6.13.x or 6.12.x kernel. As the 6.6.y branch is active that keren may work but can't certain.

ok cool.
I've just built a new image could you give it a whirl if it doesn't work I'll say that its not recommended for the 5 with 16GB only tested with 4GB.

Thank you for the images. There are a few kernel/driver changes I'll be working around, but the experience was super easy.
Backstory: I tried to upgrade my successful installation, and the pi wouldn't boot, giving the "missing firmware" error. I copied my existing linuxcnc config files using another Linux system. I installed your image on windows. I copied the config onto the new SD card. It booted and nearly all was well.
Thank you.

Hello gentlemen !
Im a Newby and want to run a CNC-mill with a Mesa 7i76E and a Rpi 5.
I have read the thread and think a RPI 5 with 8 GB will be the right choice for
bookworm and the mesa. The 16 GB RPI5 won't work or is there any kind of news ?
The freason for the question is that i have to buy a RPI but which one is the best opinion and why ?
Can you help me ?
Thanks a lot
