Finally have the cable chains mounted where I think I want them to be, and ran the wiring. I used these screw terminal connectors before and didn't seem to have issues, so I'll reuse them. The gantry and main carriage for the Z is mounted significantly higher this time, so hopefully that aids longevity with various parts.
I bought the laser crosshairs a couple of months ago. At that time it didn't occur to me to use them for getting my proximity sensors (for homing/limits) set pretty close to where I want, but it seems like a decent secondary use for them.

Found that the latency is pretty horrible on the Gigabyte BRIX S PC that I got for the table. I just swapped it back to the older Dell desktop so I can get a good base machine config set up. I'll circle back and work on the BRIX separately later on, I think it may be the newer kernel.
Got good X axis movement, but I may have gotten some wires crossed for the motors on the Y...but wow anyway. I ran the X axis at 900ipm back and forth yesterday evening and it's so incredibly smooth compared to the other belt drive system I was running. This is gonna be good.

Define pretty horrible please!
Remember that you are not running a base thread so latency requirements are much relaxed. Maybe < 200000 is still OK. Also the included wifi is awful so pull it and add a USB wifi dongle.

The latency just on the linuxcnc checker stays between 300k and 500k. Watchdog bites immediately after turning the machine on in linuxcnc.
I'm sure there's something that can be done, as I know a lot of people used this same PC. I'm running with a SSD and 8GB memory. The BRIX is UEFI though.

Let's see if this works for viewing my short video.

Finished with the base machine in linuxcnc. Fastest I worked it for testing was 1200ipm. It seems like it will do a good bit more, but unnecessary for me to push it.
Now to just hook up the new machine torch to the plasma and then configure plasmac and do some test cuts.
Then I'll look into reducing the latency (as much as possible) on the BRIX S. Should be able to move my table configs over easily enough.

Nice! But spend some time optimising the acceleration settings..
