Hi! I´m building a foldable plasma table and i have no prevoius experience with motors or controllers.
I will try to post my journey as it develops.

My thougts with the build is that i have a verry small garage and i need to make my plasma small. So my work area is something like 1000x1000mm. I made the construction foldable to make it even smaller when storing,
I will enter qestions as they will come during the build. I have soon made all the mechanical build and will start with the electrical side of the build.
I have a cheap HF plasma that i will start with, but i'm pretty shore that i will upgrade to a pilot arc when i see that it works.
Because of the HF plasma i have isolated all linear units form the cutting table with plastic. All cables will be shealded to prevent the HF noise, but as i said , i´m prepared to buy a new plama with pilot arc

I have bought some NPN sensors to use with my 7i96 board. Will it work? I read some where that you could use PNP and NPN, but I don’t understand the difference in wiring. These are the sensors that I bought. Planning to run those at lower voltage that specified (use the same power supply as for the 7i96 and hope that it will work)

I made the same mistake. Use 24 v for field power and a 2.2k 1W pull up resistor (between the signal output and the +24 input/

Hi! I hope that I will have some time to keep building soon. I was wondering which axis is which. I attached a picture. Is this correct.
Can I chose the homing sensors on X+ And y-
Do I need to have two limit switches if I have encoder, or should I add it to both sides.

The 7I96 can work with NPN or PNP type sensors

For NPN type sensors:

7I96 input common (TB3 pin 12) --> +24V
prox negative common --> 24V common/GND
prox output --> 7I96 input (TB3 pins 1..11)

For PNP type sensors:

7I96 input common (TB3 pin12) --> 24V common/GND
prox positive supply --> +24V
prox output --> 7I96 input (TB3 pins 1..11)

A small video update. I hope that i´m finished with the mechanincal part, and shall now start with wiring.

Hi PCW! Do i understand you correctly
Se attached picture. This is for my NPN sensor
Will this also work for my contact switch for height probing? Do i add a big resistor or how do i do so i don´t short the power supply?
