Played around with the orient some more and I have not found a way to keep the spindle from oscillating once oriented, even with the new minimal configuration
Did you try deadband at any point?

Tried to add some deadband into the orient PID, but this did not help any. As of right now I am going to move on with other aspects of the machine and will come back to this later. Adding to my list of little things to work on. Nice thing is the main functionality is done and the machine is working rather well.
Need to do the following soon before the next step:
* Adjust spindle encoder pulley (Not running as true as I would like)
* Connect last air line to spindle
* Align tool changer (Purchasing tools to align this)
* Finish installing some panels on the Z axis
Will update as I progress.

Next stage will be:
* Finish all final connections that do not involve enclosure
* Install new X axis thrust bearings
* Verify geometry due to disassembly (Z axis finished, need to do X and Y)
* Refurbish way covers
* Install way covers
After that
* Jog pendent
* Control panel and touch screen
Then enclosure, enclosure light, and final tuning of everything. Will work on a new GUI after I am throwing chips all over the enclosure.
Got awhile to go due to lack of time available right now.

Align tool changer (Purchasing tools to align this) What tools did you use ?
Don't forget to share your latest INI and HAL files . They really helps others trying to do retrofits .
Thanks

I was able to use the one from work to align the umbrella. Saved me $1200+
The tool has the 40 taper flange, adapter (goes in your tool pocket on umbrella) and then the centering pin. Keep adjusting umbrella assembly until everything is aligned. Snug bolts and recheck, then final tighten. I checked pockets ~90° from the next one so I had 4 points aligned with no issue.
Looks something like this.

I will when I get back around the machine and power it back up. That will be later tonight or tomorrow, it is time for dinner with my son.
