Yeah I didn't run make. Just the two commands I posted above.
Is there a specific command I should be using to do that?
Thanks.

Basically, copy the buildbot line in the link Phill posted and paste it onto the command line

If you still get the error, then comment out the line as I suggested.

I don't think I had my brain in gear, it seems you are using a buildbot install so you don't need to run make.
Could you open a terminal and run man plasmac and let me know the version number.

Thanks for clarifying Phill, that makes sense.
I ran man plasmac and got:

VERSION 0.66 - 19 Aug 2019

It also says "PLASMAC(9)" at the top but I don't know if that is version related.

It was this morning at about 9am (UK) time, 3.5 hours ago. I have been away and not using the computer since the 13/08/19 so I think when I updated this morning it updated to that version (ie. It did successfully update). Am I missing a version?

Do you have a line in your machine HAL file beginning with loadrt [EMCMOT]EMCMOT and does it have num_spindles=2 at the end.

I'm not entirely sure what is meant by machine HAL.
I have the file "plasmac.hal"

located: /usr/share/doc/linuxcnc/examples/sample-configs/by_machine/plasmac/plasmac.hal

Is this what you mean?

This file has the line:

"loadrt plasmac"

however I can't see a reference to the number of spindles. I have attached the file so you can see what I'm looking at.
Thanks.

Try this file instead of the one you have. Based on my experience today I would expect this to work. All I've done is comment out a pin you don't need as you don't have an engraver. as I mentioned earlier in this thread.

EDIT: rename it to plasmac.hal

Thanks Rod,

I tried to do that myself earlier but didn't have permission to save. I'll figure out how to open as administrator and then see if it works.

You shouldn't need administrator permissions, you config directory should be in your home directory, something like /home/jarman/linuxcnc/configs/

I would not recommended that you comment lines out, I would rather find out what the real problem is so we don't have issues down the track.

Could you zip your config directory and I can take a look tomorrow.
