Unfortunately i does not understand what append now with my rpi4
I have destroyed my old debian trying to update bootloader for USB boot and killed the kernel, so i have backuped home dir, and try fresh debian... (using 7i96)
I have try many setup including your image, linuxcnc can start fine with my config, i can see the working endstop status but nothing move or react after command or jog. (only mdi display change)
I have 2 relay controlled by axis mist flood that does not work anymore, and any stepper move (enabled by default)
Maybe the bootloader is inconsistent i haven't any other idea right now, i'm saad.

I have uploaded a new clean image.
buster-rt.img.gz
Username=pi Password=1234
Ethernet has static IP address of 10.10.10.5 set in /etc/dhcpcd.conf
I normally connect with WiFi and it still boots with my WiFi off so hopefully it will work.
If not try creating /boot/wpa_supplicant.conf on the SDCARD with the following: (change country to suit)

Good morning from Sweden,
Sorry to report that it is still not working. Tried two µSD cards one fast one slower.
Now I can see that the text is Login etc.. so it hangs on going over to graphical.
Cheers
Bengt

Hmm, I would have assumed a Pi4 was a Pi4 and they would all boot from the same image. Maybe you could try editing /boot/config.txt and commenting out the two hdmi lines.
I have just mounted mine to a din rail clip and mounted it in my control panel.
I also edit out force-turbo in cinfig.txt and set isolcpus=2,3 in dmdline.txt. That doesn't increase latency too much but makes the graphics a little bit zippier.

these were there by default
this points to the RT kernel I built
this keeps it in turbo mode
this disables bluetooth
