I run a lathe, a mill, a plasma table, and assorted test configs from one PC so using the last config in autostart would be silly.

Perhaps, but you are not replicating what I assume Tommy is doing. His words autostart are quite ambigious.I run a lathe, a mill, a plasma table, and assorted test configs from one PC so using the last config in autostart would be silly.

If you look at the linuxcnc script, it seems to do the same thing either way.

I am using Mint 19.3 on all machines, so maybe something there ...
Thank you for testing this, but this is not a problem at all since it happens only as described, and i always have backups.
As luck would have it, found another much bigger issue that did happen 3 times till now, usning shape wizards to draw some shapes, delete, move, multiply etc, after about 5 minutes of messing with it it will lock QtPlasmaC solid!
This happens only when using it a lot when showing clients what it can do, so ends up not a good show!

I will say, Phill talked me out of Mint months ago... Maybe a year even now (time flies), and any stability things I had went away. Also at the time Qt wasnt always sending error message popups consistently. Never got to the root of that, but MX Linux hasnt had any issues, and it's snappier, loads faster, etc. I highly recommend.
Two questions:
1. Do you have steps to reproduce the conversational issue? I've spent a ton of time in the conversational trying to break it in every way possible, and I've never had it completely lock up. But as your friendly local test pilot, I'd love to break it if possible
2. How did you make out with the new configs or taking out the plasmac.thc-feed-rate setting from your hal files, etc?

It is not locking, it is just ignoring my stupidity as i am trying to go to the main screen without adding the last parts of the drawing and sending it !
I'll go hide under a big rock for a while ...
There were some old Russian made rockets also ...
Some fun, finally, and i did ask if i can beat the tip of one of them with a hammer! It was a resounding NOOOOOOO !

Not yet, had to much people last few days causing to much distractions, but i was staring at a sidewinder and at a guided missile camera while waving at it and what looked like the Tomahawk warhead, it had 1000LBS written on it, and a JDAM! Oh and plenty of explosives, be it manufactured or IED!

Latest QtPlasmaC on Debian "Unstable", here is a strange one:
-home all
-wizard, 50x25mm box, inside leadin 4mm, 5mm radii on all corners
-wizard multiply at 5 columns 2 rows with 55 and 30 offsets
-send
-run
-stop using esc or cancel
-run again = it moves the start point to the second box
-stop again
-run again = it moves to start point to the third box
-rinse and repeat
-
-if left to continue, it will do all boxes, but they will not be where they should.
