there is none connected. I wonder why the handwheel would do this though. did you do any specific servo drive settings?

Unfortunately, I don't know either.Since I switched off the handwheel during homing, I haven't had any more jumps. Please upload your .ini and .hal files.

im not sure what the issue is to be honest. the drive not trying to home is the major issue right now.

Hi,
I find your ethercat_2025-12-29.xml interesting.
Could the Z signal from the encoder also be sent via 0x60FD?
The HOME_SEQUENCE is missing in the [JOINT] section of your .ini file.

I can't say whether your HOMEMOD = a6_abs_homing is correct.
I use HOMEMOD = cia402_homecomp.
I'm not familiar with any of the other parameters in [Display] to [EMCIO]; they probably belong to probe_basic.

Do you mind sharing your working configuration?
Im not sure about 60FD

The Home_Sequence was removed on purpose because of the dual y axis (im only trying to get X working atm).

A6_abs_homing is just the cia402 homecomp from collinbardini renamed.

Hi,
here is my configuration.
It works. I use XYYZ.

But please note, maybe someone here can give me a tip.
The servos need a few seconds before they are ready.
After starting Linuxcnc, it takes 3 seconds for the X-axis to be ready.
Then another 3 seconds for the YL-axis to be ready.
Then another 3 seconds until the YR axis is ready.
Then another 3 seconds until the Z axis is ready.
If I press the machine ON button too early, the error I described occurs and one axis does not move during homing.

Maybe someone knows what the problem is, or is there a way to only turn on the machine when all servos are ready?

It has been very stable other then an occasional following error when I home.
I'm still using standard homing, guess I haven't taken the time to pursue the absolute encoder instant homing.

Only time that I had a racking issue was when one of my Y homing sensors went bad and the other side of the gantry kept going...

Well, I can't recommend the servo reference run!
The problem is that it is not monitored. If an axis does not move, Linuxcnc does not notice. It happened to me again today. During homing, a Y-axis does not start moving, even though I waited until all axes were OP.
I will switch back to Linuxcnc homing.
It's a pity that the servos do not output the Z signal.

@mobiusToast
Did you have any issues with the Drives sometimes not homing at all? Or them jumping at the end of the home procedure with ER87?

Hello,

since my problems persist and one Y-axis does not move during homing, and I don't give up so easily, I tried “dmesg” and “ethercat slaves -v” again.I see two errors in the output:[  459.958251] EtherCAT WARNING 0-1: Slave did not sync after 5000 ms.[   13.362825] EtherCAT ERROR 1: Failed to calculate bus topology.Otherwise, everything is OK and the drives go to OP.Where could the problem be?I also don't understand why I have to turn off the servos and Linuxcnc and restart them for homing to work.
