I'll have to do that tomorrow. My wife just came out here (it's late here) and she was pissed because we haven't eaten yet. Anyway, I just ran a part that has given me trouble every time with the THC and it ran perfectly. On the warped portions of the plate at that. I watched it move in small increments and it did nothing crazy. I think that (-) on the scaling was it...that was placed there back when I was diagnosing the THCAD issue with PCW, and I never remembered to remove it after the issue was fixed. I'm at least guessing that's what it was. I'm going to cut some thinner material tomorrow and put it through it's paces and see.

Thanks for sticking with me, everyone.

Here's the scope for that part btw.

I am embarrassed that I didn't see that earlier. I looked at your configs a gazillion times and there is even a pic of it on an earlier post.

Hopefully you will be sorted with a bit of tuning. The bright side is that you learned how to use halscope. :)

Yes that is a good thing, and you still noticed the neg scaling. I can guarantee you I would've never ever caught that!

Actually if I had half a brain I would calculate arc voltage as an absolute value then this issue shouldn't arise plus it would stop the flickering between 0v and -0v that is annoying.

I've been looking thru complaints and issues on the plasma forums with those finecut consumables. Apparently it's a somewhat common issue with my older pm1000, and the newer duramax retrofit torch has those design issues taken care of. Gonna try tweaking some stuff and see how they do...supposedly they can be made to work well.

I'm trying to cut some 16ga material now, and the cut feed rate needs to be 510ipm. Problem is that the maximum I can set it at according to the run panel in plasmac is 400ipm. I went back through and checked my INI file and went into pncconf even, but pncconf says I'm set to 900ipm maximum feed rate. What am I missing?

That is a limit set in one of the Python files, I can change that. Is yours a Buildbot install?

Edit: If you want to change it in the meantime you can edit the following file as the root user:
/usr/share/doc/linuxcnc/examples/sample-configs/by_machine/plasma/plasmac_run.py
Change line 561 from:
            self.builder.get_object('cut-feed-rate-adj').configure(160,0,400,0.1,0,0)
to:
            self.builder.get_object('cut-feed-rate-adj').configure(160,0,999,0.1,0,0)
That will increase the maximum to 999ipm. You will need to restart LinuxCNC for this to take effect.

I'll get in there and do it today, thanks Phil.

Belt is slipping teeth again. The set screws for the steppers on the Y axis are a pain to get to. Gonna have to correct that so I can properly tension the belt. Anybody else using a modified OX kit and belts on their plasma? Curious to know if the same issue exists.
