Your idea for the solenoids board are nice

The black boxes are power filters. Link

I wish I could take the credit, this is rodw's idea.

BTW you do not have enough hobies on that table ! :)

heh ... I think the guys over at the tube amp forum needed a break from me anyways.

I did not get as far a long today as I had hoped. I had a real case of the Mondays...

But heck, I only envisaged one of them. 16 amps should be heaps. Are you using 3 phase power? That would make sense.

Yeah, that is probably overkill. I assumed I should connect these power filters to incoming mains and then out to the Meanwell AC/DC converters... but now I wonder if I should put these power filters after the converters and run the DC power through them.

Yes, we have 120/208 wye.

I just used one of these so it protected everything. Mesa hardware, stepper drivers and all.

I found some noise was entering the control box via the mains ground wire but this killed it.

Bearing in mind I am no electronics expert but I think:

It would only make sense to use 3 if you were using 3 phases and spreading the load across those phases. This is how Lam Technologies suggest how you set up their drives (if using 3 phase).

I think you'll have to build two more machines now!

Interesting. I was thinking I needed a filter before each DC power supply (between the mains and the power supply) whether they are on the same branch circuit, separate branch circuits derived from different phases, or separate branch circuits derived from the same phase.

Probably too late now, but just for future reference:
Mounting the motor drives horizontally is not ideal as the lower ones heat up the ones above, much better to put them vertically with some space in between.
Looks good otherwise.

Ah, that makes sense! I may be able to rearrange them.

I nearly said something as I got caught but not with those drives. I had to rearrange mine once they were running 90 volts!
