Judging from the forum posts, not really, beagle is pushing his version constantly.I did a fresh install on the latest official LinuxCNC 2.8 ISO, and it worked without any hiccups. Hopefully that's what most people will be using.
Yup, some stuff missing but i was not sure it was ready yet.I see there are a few style inconsistencies in your screenshot, I'll get those fixed.
BTW, my screens are 1920X1200.

Is there a way to restrict the gcode rendering to 2d or top view? And/or change its colors/styling?

Everything other than Gui seemed less pale when i was designing this.

Yes, we can change the backplot to be specific for plasma. Might make sense to show pierce points etc. as well. This will come a little later though, I don't think it's high priority at the moment.
