Can youi post a link to the Z axis?

I don't think you will gain much from a belt drive, I'd leave the rack and pinion there.

What is the material costs without nema17? Approx!

4x 16mm linear bearings at 7 euro each
2x round rail 16mm at 25cm each, 10 euro,
1x micro switch for floating, 2 euro
1x proximity sensor for home, 3 euro i think, not sure,
1x leadscrew and nut 9 euro i think
Alu parts 10 euro
screws 2 euro
so a bit over 70, here, most probably a bit cheaper wherever you are.

S150D I have got

As sad I bought it from a shop here for cnc parts with no knowledge.
But I find it is worth it. For somebody with limited precision machinery! Just bolt on

My rack pinion is not spring loaded so on some positions I have a bit of backlash.
The rack was intended to be mounted spring back.. Didn't work out.

I don't want to capture this nice show off, my deepest apologies!

Well 70euro is nice for such a well done one!

Well at least one of them got on it's feet ! :)

And from the other side

Need to make a holder for the X axis carriages and the Z axis assembly, then add motion to X axis. Step by step.....

Z axis mounted in place, now to add motion to X axis and ...... wait for the cable management ! Will have to do something temporarily, and i know there is not solution more permanent that a temporary solution, but hell i hate waiting.
Here are some more pics:

That is the Z axis home sensor and there is another switch inside for probing or floating switch.

Got delivery of the front panels for both machines today, and news that my THCAD's somehow ended up in Switzerland!

The big one is all wired up, now all those wires have to go somewhere ..... :)

Regards,
Tom.

Another quick update, the big one is nearing it's finish, needs back and side panels to be made and bolted then disassembled and sent to paint. Unfortunately no powder coating as the only colours i can choose from are black, white and some dark grey. I want none of that !
I also need to do something about the electronics enclosure, the only ones i can find here are the plain Gray ones for electrical installations at 105 Euro a piece, and i have one of those but it is a shame to put that on these machines.
Here is a quick video of it cutting air at 36m/m and rapids at 48m/m, although it can do 58 on Y axis and 66 on X axis without ever stalling. When i tighten everything up i might do another "casually hanging on the gantry" video, so stay tuned for more.
Here is the video, enjoy.
